Benefits of Membership in CHALC

  1. Each homeschool group’s activities, events & announcements are published in 10 issues of CHALC's newsletter, The Scrawls. This information is sought by new and existing homeschool families looking for activities for their children and a homeschool group in which to participate. Send your group’s information to [email protected] by the 10th of each month to ensure coverage in The Scrawls.
  2. Homeschool group leaders’ networking and business breakfasts at no cost to the leaders.
  3. HSLDA membership discount
  4. CHALC graduation ceremony discount.
  5. Your group’s name, contact information, and a brief description of your group will be listed in the newsletter and the CHALC website.
  6. Liability Insurance (property only) for published (in The Scrawls) CHALC homeschool group activities. Contact [email protected] for anything insurance related. Do NOT contact the insurance company directly. We will email you an insurance certificate for you to give to your church/building. If you ever need additional insurance certificates for different activities, like using at a gym, park, theater, etc..., just email [email protected] with the address of the place needing the certificate and it will be emailed directly to you.
  7. Free homeschool group website available through CHALC.
  8. Discount for CHALC-sponsored seminars and events.
  9. CHALC Homeschool Group Membership Rebate: Members that are involved in multiple CHALC homeschool groups will be issued a rebate for part of their membership fees.
  10. Connection with a community of homeschoolers across Lancaster County.

Responsibilities

  1. You must submit the homeschool group application, member list with contact information, and $30 fee per family by July 10. If you do not have a complete list of members by July 10, submit those that you have by the deadline and add additional members to your member spreadsheet as needed throughout the year.  When a member is added to the list during the year, please remember to submit the $30 fee per family CLEARLY MARKED with your co-op's name and any other relevant information. It is important that you continue to submit all of your homeschool group members’ names throughout the school year, so we can maintain an accurate homeschool group count for insurance and website purposes because the fees we pay are according to the number of families in each group. We do not share members' contact information.
  2. On a rotating basis, each homeschool group is required to provide a CHALC Board representative to serve on the CHALC Board for a 3-year term. When it is your turn, we will email you a reminder. Your representative will be presented to the CHALC group leaders and they will vote to approve new board members.

Scrawls and Website Information

List the contact name, email address and a brief description of your homeschool group for inclusion on our CHALC homeschool group page in our online newsletter, The Scrawls and our web site. We do not suggest listing your phone number.
