Benefits

  • Each homeschool group's activities, events, and announcements are published in 10 annual issues of CHALC's newsletter, The Scrawls. New and existing homeschooling families use The Scrawls to find activities and groups in which to participate. To ensure inclusion, submit your group's information to [email protected] by the 10th of each month.

  • HSLDA membership discount.
  • Discount on participation in the CHALC Graduation Ceremony.
  • Listing of your group's name, contact information, and brief description in The Scrawls and on the CHALC website.
  • Liability Insurance for Facility Use for homeschool group activities conducted as part of the group's normal operations. Special events or activities at alternate locations may require a separate insurance review. For all insurance-related questions, contact [email protected]. Do not contact the insurance company directly. Insurance certificates for your regular meeting location will be provided upon request. If additional certificates are needed for locations such as gyms, parks, theaters, or other venues, email the location's name and address to [email protected], and a certificate will be issued.
  • Free homeschool group website available through CHALC.
  • Discounts on CHALC-sponsored seminars and events.
  • CHALC Homeschool Group Membership Rebate: Members who participate in multiple CHALC homeschool groups may request a rebate for a portion of their membership fees.
  • Connection with a countywide community of homeschooling families.

Responsibilities

  • Submit the homeschool group application, member list with contact information, and the $35 per-family fee by July 10. If your membership list is incomplete by that date, submit the families you have and add additional members to your spreadsheet throughout the year.
  • When adding new families during the year, submit the $35 per-family fee and clearly identify your homeschool group on all payments. It is important to keep your membership list current throughout the year so CHALC can maintain accurate records for insurance and website purposes. Insurance costs are based on the number of families participating in each group. CHALC does not share members' contact information.
  • On a rotating basis, each homeschool group is required to provide a representative to serve a three-year term on the CHALC Board. When it is your group's turn, CHALC will send a reminder. The nominee will be presented to the homeschool group leaders for approval by vote.
